CheeWei Completes Scoring for Singapore Comedy Feature Luck My Life

Chee Wei Tay has completed the original music score for the upcoming Singapore comedy feature film Luck My Life.

Over the Christmas holiday period, Chee Wei composed music for Luck My Life, a festive comedy about a naturally gifted mahjong player whose lifelong winning streak suddenly disappears, forcing him to re-evaluate his priorities and rediscover the true meaning of luck and community. The film is directed by Eric Wong and stars Richie Koh, Tay Ping Hui, Cynthia Li and Rurusama.

This marks Chee Wei’s first co-scoring collaboration with director Eric Wong. Together, they developed a playful, character-driven musical approach that complements the film’s humour and narrative.

Luck My Life is slated for release in Singapore and Malaysia on 17 February 2026.

CheeWei Clinches "Top Instrumental Contemporary" award at COMPASS Awards

Chee Wei Tay has been honored with the “Top Instrumental Contemporary” award at the prestigious 27th COMPASS (Composers and Authors Society of Singapore) Awards for his score on NOVA: Black Hole Apocalypse, a documentary aired on PBS America.

Produced for GBH Boston, directed by Rushmore DeNooyer, edited by Rob Kirwan and Ryan Shepheard, and with music mixed by Doug Brady, Black Hole Apocalypse features astrophysicist and novelist Janna Levin as she takes viewers on a captivating journey through the cutting edge of black hole science, exploring some of the universe's most powerful and mysterious phenomena.

The documentary previously earned an Emmy nomination in the "Outstanding Writing" category.

“Not your Average Neighbour” US Premiere

CheeWei’s “Not Your Average Neighbour” short documentary is set to make it’s US premiere at the 11th San Pedro International Film Festival. 

The San Pedro International Film Festival (SPIFFest) is a nonprofit organization that serves the San Pedro community, the Port of LA, Long Beach, and the Los Angeles area.  

SPIFFest celebrates the diverse culture and community of San Pedro with a broad spectrum of independent film, documentaries, and shorts

The premiere is set for this Saturday, 4th February, 2023 at 2.30pm @ the John Olguin Auditorium, within the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium, 3720 Stephen M. White Drive San Pedro, CA 90731 United States
